Luxair Luxembourg airlines, the national carrier of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase one Next Generation 737-800 aircraft. The airline already has three 737-700 and one 737-800. Adrien Ney, Luxair Group President and Chief Executive officer said “737-800 has the right size and range to enable us to optimize operations for our tour operator Luxair Tours”. "We have a policy of maintaining a young fleet to lessen our impact on the planet and to offer our customers the most up-to-date product."
The new 737 will have advance technology like blended winglets, which will be an environmental innovation that will reduce drag, resulting in less fuel consumption and a decrease in carbon emissions of about 3.5 to 4 percent. Marlin Dailey who is Vice President of Sales, Boeing said “Luxair's order reflects our company's solid business partnership of more than 45 years with this airline and the proven performance of the Next-Generation 737 in its fleet." In the beginning of this month Boeing announced that it will increase the production rate of its 737 NG to 34 airplanes per month in early 2012. This is because of the growing demand for 737 NG.
